BNAN continues the annual tradition of offering native plant seeds to all new and renewing members as a special thank you. The selection for 2010 is an herbaceous perennial named Rattlesnake Master (Eryngium yuccifolium). Rattlesnake Master is a clumping perennial growing 2-4' in height. The plant bears upright rosettes of gray-green strap-shaped foliage. Clusters of white to pale lavender flowers, reminiscent of golf balls, rise above the foliage by mid summer transforming into spiky white seed heads by early autumn. The seeds were collected from plants raised at City Natives in Mattapan. We hope you will enjoy Rattlesnake Master in your garden.
