and the protection and maintenance of 150 active community gardens, not to mention 30
years of advocacy and building stewardship throughout Boston and its neighborhoods.

YOUTH CONSERVATION CORPS
SUMMER 2010 STAFF POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Now hiring committed adults to make a difference with Boston teens outdoors
Program Description:
The Youth Conservation Corps is one of Boston's longest running teen summer work and environmental education
programs. The 17-year-old YCC has a proven model for successfully working with youth on urban environmental
issues, developing stewardship, and accomplishing meaningful open space infrastructure projects. Youth
Conservation Corps introduces urban youth to the natural environment in their own neighborhoods through working
cooperatively to complete conservation and stewardship projects --all the meanwhile providing much needed
summer income and employment. YCC members develop job readiness and leadership skills and become acquainted
with potential careers in environmental fields.
Youth Conservation Corps Staff Positions:
Field Manager/Coordinator (1 opening)

Responsibilities:
Field Manager/Coordinator: The Field Manager/Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all logistics p<br>ertaining to
the four YCC teams' work plans, i.e.: work locations, projects, supplies, personnel support and payroll, as well as
developing and facilitating a pertinent environmental education curriculum. The Field Manager/Coordinator may be
called on to assist and support Senior Supervisors with any issues that arise and he or she will be expected to allot equal
time to all teams. Prior to the start of the program, the Field Manager's time is devoted to logistics planning, curriculum
development and staff training while time following program completion is utilized to gather feedback for the
program's final report. This position works closely with BNAN's Program Manager.
Senior Supervisor: Supervisors will be responsible for a team of 10-12 urban youth, ages 15-17 years. Supervisors will
be accountable for the daily performance, behavior and safety of the team members. Daily tasks include coordinating
the teams' approach to work projects, delivering formal and informal lessons, and facilitating teambuilding activities.
Working with YCC Field Manager and on-site project managers, Supervisors are responsible for quality of work,
project outcome and environmental learning experience of youth.
Requirements for BOTH positions:
At least 21 years of age
Minimum two years' experience working with and
positively motivating urban teens
Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work independently
Youth development, environmental education, and
conservation/landscape work experience
Teaching experience, especially in Sciences or
Environmental Education
Familiarity with the neighborhoods of Boston
helpful
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Demonstrated experience coordinating youth
programs (Field Mgr)
Curriculum development (Field Mgr)
Must have vehicle, mileage reimbursed (Field Mgr)
Work Schedule, Dates and Salary:
Field Manager/Coordinator: 35-40 hrs/week, June 7 -- Aug. 20, 8:00AM - 4:00PM, M-F, $25.00/hr
Opportunity for part-time coordination tasks starting end of April, please indicate interest and availability.
Senior Supervisor: 30 hrs/week, June 21 -- Aug. 16, 8:00AM -- 2:00PM, M-F when in session July/Aug, $20.00/hour
