Description: Mother Brook I Urban Wild includes the waterway and the north and south banks of the canal of Mother Brook where it flows between the Hyde Park Avenue bridge and the Attleboro/Stoughton Commuter Rail line bridge. The banks of the wild support a dense forest of Speckled Alder, Silver Maple, Green Ash, and Northern Catalpa draped with rampantly growing vines of Asiatic Bittersweet, Bur Cucumber, and Virginia Creeper. Buttonbush, Silky Dogwood, and Purple Loosestrife grow as a thicket at the waters edge.
Current Use: Mother Brook I Urban Wild is best seen by canoe as it is off limits to pedestrians. The bridge at Hyde Park Avenue affords views up stream into the site. The wild provides habitat for mammals, birds, amphibians, fish, insects, and reptiles.
